What is this?

This is my capstone for my senior year of college. It is a 1-2 player dungeon crawler where players must make their way through dungeons in order to save a child from a corrupt utopian civilization.

Project Goals 

We want to make a dungeon crawler that allows the player to create their own hero as well as it having a pixel aesthetic. I would say that we've gotten the aesthetic down as far as art and sound goes. This was done through constant iterations such as changing art sizes and constraints as well as different sound effects until we found something that we were happy with. An example of this is when we did not have any enemy art and there was just a placeholder sound that was used for the enemy dying. This had to be replaced when art for the enemies was eventually implemented because people were saying that it was not fitting with what they were seeing on screen. The new sound works well with what the player expects to hear when killing a slime. We are now focusing on allowing the players to customize their character's abilities.

As of now, I think that we have a solid foundation on what we want the game to look and feel like when players get their hands on the game. We are currently building upon what we have so far in order to make the game the best that we can.
